Ideally, you should get an HRD test as soon as possible after your diagnosis or a recurrence. But no matter where you are in your cancer journey, it’s important to talk to your healthcare team about HRD testing. They can let you know if you’ve already had an HRD test and if you haven’t, advise you on next steps.
An HRD test requires a tumor tissue sample, taken through a biopsy or during surgery. Your healthcare team may be able to use tissue from your original biopsy to conduct the HRD test. You may not need an additional procedure.
